Football is considered one of the most physical sports out there, with the potential of players picking up serious injuries. A common injury that is an outcome from the aggressive, physical aspect of football is an elbow injury. A few common elbow injuries are: bicep or tricep tendon rupture, ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury, osteochondritis dissecans, and elbow dislocation, just to name a few. To explain a few of these injuries: A UCL injury, also known as the ‘Tommy John’ injury usually is caused by excessive stress on the muscle, Osteochondritis dissecans is a distress to a small area of the bone and a direct blow or fall can cause elbow fractures or even joint dislocations.
