Research has shown that cycling helps improve function and gait, decrease pain, and boost aerobic fitness, especially in people with knee osteoarthritis. But, excessive training or cycling may result in several problems, and knee injury is common. Research has shown that anywhere from 23 per cent to 33 per cent of cyclists suffer from cycling-related knee pain at one point or another. Most cycling-related knee injuries occur due to overdoing it and can cause strains to the connective tissues, causing pain and inflammation.
